Bell Port is located at the southern tip of Lake Victoria and features a narrow entry channel. This serves as Uganda’s primary inland port, responsible for the majority of its import and export activities. The port is interconnected with other Lake Victoria ports via a pier that facilitates ferry operations connecting Jinja, Port Kisumu in Kenya, Musoma, Mwanza, and Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania.
The Jinja port is located on Lake Victoria, in the southeastern region of Uganda, at an elevation exceeding 1000 meters above sea level. It holds the position as Uganda’s second most significant port, following Port Bell. Presently, Jinja town serves as a crucial hub for trade in Uganda; nevertheless, there is a pressing requirement for the expansion and modernization of the port facilities.
The Butiaba port complex is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Albert in the northwestern district of Uganda, within the Masindi region. Historically, Butiaba harbor played a crucial role as a maritime hub for the transportation of goods from Congo and Sudan. Subsequently, these goods were conveyed by road to the Masindi port, from where they were shipped to Soroti. Ultimately, they were loaded onto trains for export to Mombasa.

Import duties, taxes, and customs fees must be paid in compliance with Ugandan tariff rates. Certain goods may require additional permits or licenses from relevant government authorities. Additionally, adherence to quality and safety standards is essential, and some products may undergo inspection or testing.
