Trade in the vicinity of today’s Novi Sad port has a rich history tracing back to the medieval period. However, a formal port was established in 1910 to accommodate boatmen seeking berths near the Novi Sad city lake. During the two world wars, it emerged as the largest commercial port in the region. Novi Sad port enjoys robust connections with ports downstream on the Danube in Bulgaria, Romania, and Ukraine. Furthermore, it maintains links to Black Sea ports, as well as those in the Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans. The facility offers an extensive storage infrastructure, encompassing 45,000 square meters of sheltered warehouse space and 100,000 square meters of open storage, which includes both public and bonded warehouses. Moreover, they provide rental options for storage space.

Smederevo, situated on the Danube River’s right bank in eastern Serbia, features a diverse port infrastructure, including a refurbished old port, a small marina, a liquid cargo terminal for Naftna Industrija Srbije, and small wharfs in the industrial area. This port handles international cargo and is located in a city known for its historical ties to iron production and grape cultivation. In recent years, Smederevo has evolved into an industrial center, accommodating both heavy industries and light manufacturing.
