Dongguan Port
Dongguan Port is located in Guangdong Province, China. It is a natural deep-water harbor situated at the confluence of the Pearl River and its East River tributary. Major towns near Dongguan Port include Zhongshan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, and Zhongshan. Dongguan Port is one of China’s busiest ports and a central hub for container shipping. The port handles a large volume of exports from the Pearl River Delta region and imports from around the world.
The port is with a depth of 15 meters (49 ft). It covers an area of 2,000 hectares (4,942 acres). The port has over 60 berths and can accommodate up to 300,000 tons of vessels.
Dongguan Port is owned and operated by the Guangdong provincial government. The port authority is responsible for the development and management of the port. Dongguan Port has a long history, dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The port has undergone a significant expansion in recent years, with the construction of new berths, warehouses, and other infrastructure.
