Santos Port is the busiest port in Latin America and the 7th busiest container port in the world. Located in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Santos Port handles approximately 3.6 million TEUs annually. The port is situated on the island of Sao Vicente, about 60 kilometers southwest of the city of Sao Paulo. The towns near Santos port are Cubatao, Praia Grande, Santos, and São Vicente. The port is serviced by a deep-water channel that can accommodate large vessels up to 200,000 DWT. Santos Port is a central hub for container traffic in South America and is served by many shipping lines offering service to destinations around the globe.

Santos Port is operated by a consortium of Brazilian and foreign companies under a concession agreement with the Brazilian government. The port authority, Portos de Sao Paulo, is responsible for the administration and operation of the port. Santos Port is essential to the Brazilian economy and handles many of the country’s exports. Products exported from Santos Port include coffee, sugar, soybeans, and iron ore.

Export /Import requirements

In order to export/import goods to Santos port, all shipments must be declared to the Santos Port Authorities. A Bill of Lading (BL), Shipper’s Letter of Instruction (SLI), and Certificate of Origin (CO) are required for all shipments. A Commercial Invoice and Packing List are also needed. All shipments must be made by the applicable Incoterms and international regulations for dangerous goods and live animals.
