HaiPhong Port is the largest port in Vietnam and one of the busiest ports in Southeast Asia. The port is located in the city of HaiPhong, on the northeastern coast of Vietnam, about 100 kilometers from Hanoi. HaiPhong Port was founded in 1888 when the French colonial government began constructing a deep-water port to replace the shallow-water port of Haiphong. The port was completed in 1897. During the Vietnam War, HaiPhong Port was a significant base for the United States Navy and was heavily bombed by the US Air Force. After the war, the port was repaired and expanded. Today, HaiPhong Port is one of Southeast Asia’s most prominent and busiest ports. The port handles a large volume of cargo and passengers and is an essential gateway for Vietnam’s trade with other countries.
