Manila Port
The Manila Port is the busiest seaport in the Philippines. It is located in the heart of Manila Bay and has an area of about 1,000 hectares. The port handles about 80% of the country’s maritime trade. Major towns near Manila Port include: Pasay, Paranaque, Muntinlupa, Taguig and Quezon City. It is also the country’s leading tourist destination, with over two million visitors yearly. Manila Bay is one of the world’s most important natural harbors. It is sheltered from the open sea by the Philippines’ archipelagic chain of 7,107 islands. The bay is connected to the South China Sea through the Luzon Strait. Manila Port is the only deep-water port in the Philippines. It can handle all vessels, from the largest container ships to the smallest fishing boats. The Manila Port is one of the busiest ports in the Philippines and a maritime trade hub. The port is governed by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and has set the following requirements for the export and import of goods: all goods must be declared to the Bureau of Customs (BOC), and the proper documentation must accompany all goods, the BOC must inspect all goods, all imported goods must be cleared through the BOC, all imported goods must be paid for in full, all imported goods must be transported from the port within 30 days, all exported goods must be declared to the BOC, all exported goods must be accompanied by the proper documentation, all exported goods must be inspected by the BOC, and all exported goods must be paid for in full.
