Term	Definition
Handheld Scanner	A handheld scanner is a type of barcode scanner that is small enough to be held in hand. Handheld scanners can scan barcodes on products, labels, and other surfaces.
Handling Costs	Handling costs are the costs incurred by a company in handling goods. These costs can include the cost of packaging, shipping, and receiving goods. Handling costs can also include the cost of storing goods and the cost of employee time spent handling goods.
Haulage	Haulage is the process of moving goods or materials by land. This can be done using various methods, including trains, trucks, cars, and even animals.
HAWB	HAWB stands for House Air Waybill. It is a shipping document that tracks international cargo shipments and contains information about the shipment, including the shipper, consignee, and contents.
Hazardous Materials	Hazardous materials are flammable or poisonous substances and threaten life, property, or the environment if released carelessly. These materials can be gases, liquids, or solids, including toxic chemicals, fuels, nuclear waste products, biological agents, chemical agents, and radiological materials.
Hazmat	Hazardous materials are referred to as hazmat. Hazardous materials are any materials that pose a risk to human health or the environment. They can be liquids, solids, gases, or mixtures of these substances. Hazardous materials may be corrosive, flammable, explosive, or poisonous. Some hazardous materials include Chemicals, Pesticides, Fertilizers, Cleaning products, Gasoline, Oil, Propane, asbestos, lead, and mercury.
Heavy Weight Surcharge (HWS)	A heavyweight surcharge is a fee assessed by an airline when a passenger’s luggage exceeds the maximum weight limit for that particular flight.
HIFO (Highest In – First Out)	HIFO is a method used for inventory valuation in which the most recently purchased items are the first to be sold. It means that the products are organized according to price so that the priciest items are taken out first. Therefore, the low acquisition prices are used to appraise the shares.
High-bay Warehouse	A high-bay warehouse is a type of industrial warehouse characterized by its tall ceilings and high-bay racks. These warehouses are typically used for storing large quantities of goods and materials. They are often equipped with cranes and other material handling equipment to facilitate the movement of goods within the warehouse.
Hold for Pickup	Hold for pickup means that an item will be held at a designated location so it can be picked up later.
Horse Transport	Horse transport is a large vehicle used to transport horses from one location to another. These vehicles are typically equipped with stalls or pens that allow the horses to stand or lie down during transportation. Horse transports can be either open-air or enclosed, and they may be equipped with ramps or lifts to assist loading and unloading the horses. The driver of the horse trailer or the corresponding towing vehicle must have the correct driver’s license.
HS code	The HS code is a numeric code that is used to identify products that are traded internationally. The HS code comprises six digits, and the first two digits identify the product category.
Hub	A hub is a location where goods or services are concentrated. It may be a physical location, such as a warehouse or a distribution center, or a virtual place, such as an online marketplace.
Hub Spoke System	A Hub Spoke System is a unique transport network with a central hub. Within this hub, different routes run to it in a star pattern. At the endpoint of each route, goods or people are picked up whose destination is either the central hub or another route. The number of connections in the hub can be significantly reduced by concentrating freight flows and introducing transshipment points.
